Make no mistake, the 2021 Ram TRX is a Raptor killer. It’s Ram’s first dip into what has been Ford Raptor land for years. And, thankfully, Ram didn’t bother starting in the shallow end, but rather dove headfirst into the deep end and surfaced like an asphalt kraken. (yes, we could’ve gone with a T-rex reference here, but we don’t think the T-rex spent much time in the water and we were already deep into our metaphor.)
Bigger and Badder
The 2021 Ram TRX commands attention in every detail of its menacing exterior. The 2021 TRX is 8 inches wider than the competition, has an 11.8" ground clearance and massive 35-inch tires. Also featured on the hood is a large and functional air intake scoop and flow-through to ensure unobstructed air flow to the engine, while integrated amber identification lights add to the bold RAM styling.
Adventuring in the dark? No problem. An Adaptive Forward Lighting system with LED Smartbeam Intelligent Headlamps comes standard on the Ram TRX and will light your way. To accommodate its wide track the TRX fenders and box-outers are flared 8 inches, while 7 air flow features throughout the body provide optimal cooling and aerodynamics. Also noteworthy is the dual exhaust system that uses two resonance-free pipes to release a threatening roar from the 5-inch matte black exhaust tips. The Ram TRX even has it's own exclusive tire tread with The Goodyear Wrangler Territory All Terrain tires!
Unmatched Power & Performance
The star of the 2021 RAM TRX is its Supercharged 6.2L HEMI® V8 Engine. It can produce up to 702 horsepower, 650 lb-ft of torque and can go 0-60 MPH in a mere 4.5 seconds! The featured twin-screw supercharger gives you almost instant torque, can regulate boost pressure up to 11.0 psi, and gives a max speed of 14,600 rpm. The cast-iron engine block can withstand firing pressures of 1,595 psi - or 20,000 pounds of force!
Besides it’s ridiculously powerful engine, the 2021 TRX offers a plethora of driving modes that give it a Jekyll and Hyde complex. With 8 drive modes plus valet, the TRX adapts at your command with performance-tuned drive modes for on- and off-road excursions.
Quicker shift times, a tightened suspension, a 30/70 torque split and sport-tuned stability control empower TRX with the optimal performance-truck setup on paved surfaces.
Why allow weather to limit your performance? TRX employs an initial 45/55 torque split and manages engine horsepower for optimal launch performance on snow and ice.
TRX awaits your command. Create a tailored driving experience by dialing in your preferred steering feel, torque split, suspension firmness and more.
In deep sand and mud conditions, TRX uses a 45/55 initial torque split and calibrates both throttle management and torque distribution to mitigate wheel slip and improve traction.
With boulders in your sights, TRX shifts to an extra low gear ratio and uses a 50/50 torque split. Plus, a Selec-Speed Control holds a set velocity for a controlled descent.
When taking on dunes, this off-road truck reduces shift times by 68%, sets its suspension on full damping and allows for moderate oversteer to impart maximum fun.
Automatically adapts to any condition; uses 40/60 front/rear torque split.
Alters torque delivery off the line for greater smoothness and adjusts suspension to combat pitch and yaw to deliver maximum towing performance; uses 45/55 torque split.
Engine is remapped to significantly reduce horsepower and torque; limited to 4,000 rpm. Transmission locks out access to first gear and upshifts earlier than normal. Traction, steering, and suspension are set to their Street settings. Steering-wheel paddle shifters, Drive mode functions, and Launch Control are all disabled and Electronic stability control is enabled to full-on.
Launch Control is standard with the 2021 Ram TRX. Launch Control manages tire slip while launching the vehicle to give the driver consistent straight-line acceleration. Wheel speed sensors watch for driveline-damaging wheel hop at launch and, in milliseconds, provide inputs to the powertrain control module to modify the engine torque to regain full grip.
The Ram TRX is also equipped with Jump Detection, which uses wheel speed and ride height sensors and accelerometers at each corner to identify when the vehicle is airborne and acts to prevent driveline-damaging power spikes. Acting in milliseconds, Jump Detection modifies engine speed and torque, gear selection, transfer case torque split, damping rates and other powertrain and suspension components through the landing to deliver optimum performance.
The 2021 RAM TRX keeps performance at the forefront in every piece of itself, including the interior. An exciting first on the 2021 TRX is a first flat-bottom steering wheel that features the first-ever integrated aluminum shift paddles! The steering wheel also has available carbon fiber and Alcantara® suede accents. A distinctive center-mounted gear shifter with a manual shifting mode puts all the control in your hand.
You'll never forget you're inside the ferocious TRX thanks to exclusive TRX badges on the seats, center console cover and the glove box. The all-new available Heads-Up Display lets you keep your eyes on the road ahead while providing key information like current speed on the windshield. Turn up your favorite tunes to the max with the available 900-watt, 19-speaker Harman Kardon® Premium Audio System!
